Part I: Be A Presence Of Belief During Uncertain Times
And seemingly out of nowhere, the normalcy of everyone’s life has shifted. The onset and spread of Coronavirus has sadly taken lives and incited mass health precautions. It’s caused global shutdowns and made social distancing and shelter-in-place mandates necessary. It’s single-handedly moved classrooms and cubicles to kitchen tables and couches. And for many, it has stripped them of their livelihoods, income, and insurance.
When uncertainty has cast a shadow above the world, it’s important our PrimeMyBody Affiliates ask themselves how they can best adapt and be flexible to these new circumstances, so their businesses don’t lose momentum, and they can continue to be pillars of support for their families, friends and communities. To PMB Ambassador and renowned business and life coach, Tom McCarthy, this is no time to slouch. Instead, it’s a time to flip on a mindset of optimism and determination.
“When crises happen, when adversity strikes, one of two things happens. You either become a victim and crawl around waiting for it to end. Or you say, “You know what? I’m going to use these circumstances as a springboard. I’m going to use the crappy times, all its adversity and pain to grow,” says Tom—who after beginning his training career working with life and business coach, Tony Robbins, has been running his own business trainings for several Olympic gold medalists and Fortune 500 companies including, Microsoft, AT&T, Acer and many others since the early ’90s.
When all hell seems to be breaking through the seams of society, people near and far need sources of faith they can depend on. With PMB wellness products they can rely on for physical and emotional health, and business opportunities that can help them thrive, Tom knows it’s the presence and voice of our Affiliate community that is needed now more than ever.
“If you want someone to come into the PMB business you have to have certainty when you’re talking to them. Even though there’s a lot of uncertainty around you, you’ve got to have certainty about who you are, what this business provides, and where we’re going as a company. That assuredness is something you can create without having everything perfectly in place. We may not have a lot of external certainty right now, but you can still have have and deliver inner certainty. That’s what people are looking for. It’s one of the most basic human needs. They want connection and they want certainty—and we can give them both,” says Tom.
Although you may not be able to travel or meet up for traditional in-homes or one-on-ones, technology provides all the tools you need to share the PMB message with efficiency.
“We obviously can’t get out and physically see people for meetings. But thank god we have virtual ways to communicate and connect. There’s always the phone, and with video technology, we can still build relationships with face-to-face connections. There really are no excuses,” Tom adds.
So as the days indoors pass, instead of feeling cooped up or boxed in, Tom urges you to use this time to improve and excel—for the sake of your own growth and for the certainty others are craving.
“It might sound odd, but this is the most beautiful time to grow as a human. Get better at virtual conversations. Get better at managing an emotional state during the day. Get better at releasing fear and pumping other people up. The world needs it right now.”
