It’s safe to say our Affiliate field is led by one of the best in the business. A round of applause goes to our Lead Marketer, John Taylor. Last week, as a proud member of the PrimeMyBody family, J.T. was inducted into Network Marketing Pro’s Million Dollar Hall of Fame. Annually, Network Marketing Pro recognizes and awards the top income earners in the affiliate and network marketing industry. An award that goes beyond financial distinction, inductees are nominated not only for their annual earnings, but also the impact they make as leaders and the lives they help to change in their respective companies and business communities.
On being inducted, J.T. says,
“It’s 25 years of hard work. It’s about trying to do right by the people you work with. This is a gratitude thing for me—to be recognized and to know I’m making a difference in people’s lives.”
Watching J.T. on stage or hearing him move people to action on conference calls, you may think he was destined for this prestigious industry recognition. The truth of it is J.T. has earned every inch of what he’s accomplished through hard work, trial and error progression, and an absolute “All In” commitment to his team and their goals.
If you’re new to affiliate marketing or are hopping back in after fizzling attempts, J.T.’s story may provide a touch of inspiration. He reminds us that his journey to success didn’t start out very smoothly, with a particular rock in his business road popping up in a quiet meeting room in Amarillo, Texas.
“It was my first year in network marketing when I flew out to Amarillo. The guy I was working with had promised me 50 people in a meeting room. I got there and saw 50 empty chairs. Right around the time we were supposed to start he told me he had to go to the bathroom and snuck away out the back door,” says J.T. “I was left standing there in this silent room with my sponsor and her husband—who was my aunt Judy and uncle Del Rogers. My uncle made me do the presentation that day anyway. I got up there and did it, and Del said, ‘If you go back up there and do it with all your heart and all your passion I’ll buy you a steak dinner.’ I got up there and presented again and envisioned there would be a lot of people in a room like this one day.”
J.T. walked out of that empty conference room with an essential token of business knowledge. He knew that if he was going to succeed in network marketing, he had to become more accountable to himself and his business on a daily basis. Growing from a naïve greenhorn to a seasoned veteran, J.T. has learned more than anything that success in affiliate marketing starts with connecting with people on a personal, one-on-one level.
“I’d like to say I get the psychology behind what makes people tick now. I think the biggest transformation for me the last 25 years is going from someone who didn’t have time to get to know people to a person that now yearns to get to know people.”
As much acclamation as J.T. deserves for his Hall of Fame induction, he has a silent business partner that deserves a lot—and we mean A LOT—of the credit for the business success he’s received throughout the years.
“I couldn’t ask for a better business partner than my wife, Sandra. She does more for my business than people will ever know because she allows me to run and gun and shine my talents. This is our business, and this is our success shared equally.”
Throughout his career, J.T. has been an affiliate at many direct sales companies. He’s witnessed firsthand that an affiliate and leadership community shrouded in ego and selfishness can be the downfall of even the strongest company. Asked what the differentiating factor is between PrimeMyBody and other companies he’s been a part of, J.T. says,
“PrimeMyBody has a heart. I feel like we’ve built a community where people obviously want outstanding products and a way to earn a paycheck, but there’s a deeper spirit here in our company than other places I’ve worked. We’ve done a great job of keeping the ego out. People are more focused on the greater cause. That’s what I believe is the key ingredient that will help us go from a couple hundred million to a billion dollar company over time.”
Guided by his WHY—namely Sandra and his daughters Avery and Addison—what’s helped J.T. earn his Hall of Fame status is the remarkable job he does balancing the intangibles of being a compassionate listener and an honest motivator. His ears are always open, yet he’s instinctively ready to provide the nudge others need to believe in themselves and their business goals.
For PrimeMyBody Affiliates looking to make significant business strides in 2019, J.T. has some words of encouragement.
“The biggest thing I try to get people to understand is you have to go all in in what you do. If you’re going to do this learn how to be a professional. Don’t be a tire kicker. Don’t be a tourist. Become a leader. Make affiliate marketing and PrimeMyBody a trade and profession, not something you play around with. When you treat your business and this industry with the respect it deserves, you will see a difference.”
Congratulations to you, J.T.—we are grateful and privileged to have a leader like you guiding our growing Affiliate field.
