Take Action & Voice Your Support for the Legalization of Hemp
With the vote on the long-awaited 2018 Farm Bill delayed, there is still time to make your voice heard on Capitol Hill! The 2018 Farm Bill has overcome many delays and controversies since the House and Senate voted on the early versions of the bill this summer. Thankfully, the all-important hemp amendment that will legalize the growth of hemp and use of hemp-related products has remained a consistent aspect of the legislation. While many lawmakers have expressed their commitment to the passage of hemp legalization, we still need your help reminding members of Congress that legalizing hemp is a forefront initiative on the minds of the American public.
Following the ceremonies to honor the passing of the late president George H. W. Bush, voting on the 2018 Farm Bill reconvened this week. As previously announced, the House and Senate Agriculture Committee reached a compromise between the House and Senate versions of the bill just weeks ago. Today, the committee finalized their tentative compromise. Now it is up to the House and Senate to vote as a whole on the finalized bill before it is sent to the president for signature into law. Passage by the House and Senate is expected by the end of the week.
This Is Where We Need Your Help! Contact your representatives and urge them to vote YES on the hemp amendment (officially named the McConnell Amendment) and ask them to support and pass the 2018 Farm Bill. It is important that our members of Congress in Washington D.C. know how important the hemp industry is to the American people and especially to you.
