Meet Mariel Hemingway

A boundless sky stretches above Sun Valley, Idaho. Hues of purple, yellow, and blue blanket the valley floor as spring’s wildflower season thrives. Mariel Hemingway follows a snaking trail that narrows as it winds the upward curves of Idaho’s Smoky Mountains. High above town on a rocky weathered perch she finds a moment to catch her breath and appreciate the balance she’s generated in a life that’s been marked by what can only be defined as instability.

This is where Hemingway has called home for the better part of her life. Sun Valley is where she has found peace and solitude. A place that has guided her sense of personal and professional purpose—a purpose that now includes PrimeMyBody.

“Because of my genetics, because of the family history that I come from, my life has always been dedicated toward keeping myself in balance. How I live my life determines my state of well being. I think that goes for anybody and I’m always looking for things to create more balance, more homeostasis, and a sense of grounding,” says Hemingway.

If you’re asking yourself, the answer is yes. Hemingway is the granddaughter of literary icon Ernest Hemingway. To put it subtly, Hemingway does comes from a troubled familial past that includes suicide, addiction, and depression. Much of her family’s “curse” has been publicized and critiqued by the mainstream media. Only recently has her work in areas of mental wellness shifted the framing from a narrative of sorrow to one of resiliency and joy.

For years she has been passionate about preserving the legacy of her grandfather and producing her own creative projects. That passion led her into a new career phase, one that has great meaning on a personal level. For the last several years, as a mental health and wellness advocate, she has traveled and spoke nationwide in an effort to bring awareness to the issues surrounding mental health that are widely prevalent in our society.

Through relationships in those circles Hemingway was introduced to PrimeMyBody’s hemp extracts, particularly FOCUS—a supplement she fell in love with instantly. “I was introduced by one of our amazing brand partners Lori Cardellino. I couldn’t believe it first of all. It had such a balancing effect on kind of everything about me. I just settled. You know, for some people it takes time, but for me it really was within five minutes. I felt this warmth come over me…got emotional and wanted to hug Lori,” says Hemingway—who after an initial serving wanted to pay attention to how the hemp extract positively affected her mood and energy.

Hemingway recalls taking FOCUS and going on a hike with some pretty hearty elevation gains in the mountains surrounding Sun Valley. Stepping off the mountain hours later she was stunned by how well she felt afterwards.

“Everything has always been a discipline for me. I’m super disciplined. I just do things and I get through them. I’ve noticed since taking this hemp extract that sense of drudgery about things has lifted. Normally finishing the hike would have been an excuse to just lounge around, watch tv, and curl into a ball hoping tomorrow didn’t come too fast because I earned my rest. But honestly I just felt great. For me that’s been my experience. I never tell new people that that is what is going to happen for them because everybody is different. I think because this formula activates our system, that endocannabinoid system, you never know what your body needs most. For me, things just don’t overwhelm me anymore.”
